Islamic Cards for Mum, Dad, and Your Spouse
·5 min read
What to write to a mother, a father, or your husband or wife when a text is too small for what you mean.

Some people do not fit an occasion. Your mother on an ordinary Thursday. Your father after a hard month. Your spouse in a week that was only the two of you. A card is for those days as much as for Eid.
Mothers and fathers
Thank them for one real thing, not a list. “JazakAllah khair for the years you kept showing up. I notice it more now.” Add a short dua for their health. Then stop. A parent does not need you to summarise their life.
The cards for mothers and cards for fathers are for that note. If the day has a name, a thank-you or a get-well card may fit better. If it does not, these do.
Your husband or wife
Write the thing you would not put in a family group chat. One private line is stronger than a poem. “I am grateful for you. May Allah keep us gentle with each other.” Sign it. You live in the same house. The card can still be posted or left where they will find it.
See the cards for your spouse. Thick card, a kraft envelope, and a blank page when the words need to be only yours.
